Just the other day I was out walking my dog and I noticed my neighbour taking photos of the sky with his phone. When I got up close to him, he turned and simply said “I like clouds” and smiled. It made me think about our human fascination with flying and being up above the clouds, soaring like a bird. From the smallest child to full grown adults, we all have this level of wonder with the idea of being up in the sky. This piece was written to celebrate that feeling and sensation of flight. The quick tempo and repeated patterns help create the feeling of forward motion and energy throughout the ensemble.

This piece is specifically designed for beginning players, only using 6 pitches and a limited rhythmic pallet. All parts are doubled in at least one additional part. This piece is also a great educational tool for introducing dynamics, slurring, accents, and tenuto markings. I think all your beginning players will enjoy this piece.
