We are all guilty of overthinking at times. Looking for answers in places where they often won’t be found. We forget that sometimes the simplest and easiest answer is the best. And often we already have that answer hiding within ourselves. Each person carries a beautiful light inside them that we forget is there.

As Dorothy famously said in The Wizard of Oz; “If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard, because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with!” There is a beauty that lives within us all and if we look close enough, it can carry us through even the darkest of days. This piece was written to be a reflection of that light we each carry. It is a celebration of the beauty and humanity we each experience every day, often without even noticing.

This piece was not written with a particular grade or level in mind, but it is designed to be playable by a developing middle-school or high school band. This piece will be available for purchase in early 2025 from Randall Standridge Music.
